Right now, the influencer marketing industry is booming. Brands are getting killer ROI from working with influencers, and while being online is all the rage, I still believe the real magic happens in person.
We live in a time where we always know what friends and family are doing just by logging on to social media. But the truth is that being on Facebook isn’t enough for maintaining relationships or creating a happy life (it’s actually proven that scrolling Facebook decreases happiness).
So, it’s time to get off your phone and hang out with people IRL!
The real, authentic moments happen when you get together IRL. Making eye contact, hugging each other, and LOL’ing over dinner and champs is when the real magic happens.
No amount of texting, Instagramming, or blogging compares to real-life human connection.
Most days, I’m alone: it’s just me and my laptop, and I have days when I am sick of working with my head down. I sometimes lack motivation, creativity, and drive, but when this happens, I think about all the women from Style Collective who I have met IRL. While working hard is important, it’s equally important to take breaks to be with people, to prevent burnout.
Which is the exact reason I go to NYFW. Yeah, the shows are great, but the real magic is meeting my SC Sisters face-to-face. I will never forget last fashion week, where 30 of us met IRL for the very first time during a small brunch I organized. There was MAGIC seeing women hug, laugh, and enjoy each other’s company.
So, my advice to everyone: take a day or two to turn off social media.
Reach out to someone you haven’t seen in a long time and schedule a date. Your happiness will increase and your heart will be filled with love.
