Hi friends! It has been a while since I updated the blog, but here I am! I know I say this all the time, but I am so freaking grateful to be able to do so many things that I love between Style Collective, interior design, and in the near future – real estate. For today’s post, I am sharing one of my favorite transformations for the sweetest and most deserving couple, Matt and Mary.
They purchased this home knowing they wanted to eventually update the kitchen; the work flow in the original layout felt claustrophobic and clunky. The fridge was adjacent to their side door off the driveway, which they primarily use to enter and leave their home. The oven was cramped in the corner – there wasn’t much counter space, and the peninsula made the space feel incredibly small. Their garbage was in sight, instead of under the cabinet, and they had no microwave. Plus, everything was old, musty, sagging, and just needed to go – along with that ceiling fan!
Mary loves to cook and bake in her kitchen, so I was really excited to optimize their kitchen for them! We had our first meeting in June of 2019 to discuss the project and after I put together a preliminary quote and budget, they told me they’d be ready to start the project at the end of 2019. I know that taking out a loan for a home project is what most people do, but I love that they saved up for the project instead! I am a huge believer in saving up and only buying what you can afford, so I was excited for them! The anticipation is half the fun leading up to something big – and you feel so happy and proud of yourself for achieving a goal you set. After a few months, we picked the project back up and started to lay out designs while ensuring aesthetic and function were both optimized. Below are the final results of the kitchen, which we could ALL not be more thrilled with!
A huge thank you to Wayfair for sponsoring the beautiful hardware in this space.
