Wallpaper Ideas to Elevate Your Home and Decor

Hi friends!! I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but wallpaper is back in a huge way. Today’s wallpaper is so fresh looking and doesn’t even compare to stereotypical 1980’s wallpaper that makes us all cringe. I am loving the wallpaper trend, whether it’s peel and stick or traditional glue, and wanted to share a few ideas that I’ve done for clients and in our home!

Dining Room

One of my clients had a blank dining room with a single piece of chair rail molding going across the room. We added window boxes below the chair rail, painted it all semi-gloss white, and then wallpapered the top half of the walls up to the crown molding. My client’s style is modern/mid-century and this foil wallpaper just elevates the space on so many levels!! We purchased this from Wayfair and it comes in multiple colors.

Feature Wall

If a full room of wallpaper isn’t your thing, you can also do one large feature wall with a pop of wallpaper. For my client, we did one wall in her bonus room with a champagne gold foil wallpaper that is almost art deco inspired. You walk to the top of their staircase and this pop of shimmery wallpaper meets your gaze – it is just stunning in person.

We also did a feature wall in my client’s office with a peel and stick wallpaper that we purchased on Etsy. She had shown me a photo of something similar and when I found this, we both instantly knew that it was the one for her at-home office!

One more unique idea for a feature wall is inside a water closet, which I did at our house with floral peel and stick wallpaper from Wayfair.

Adjacent Walls

I found the photo on the left on Pinterest with wallpaper on two adjacent walls in a breakfast nook and I wanted to replicate this for my client’s breakfast area off the kitchen. I have a photo of just one wall in their kitchen, but it is also wallpapered around their sliding glass door leading out to their deck adjacent to this wall. This subtle geometric wallpaper was the perfect touch to add something special to their kitchen. I love this wallpaper and will be doing a big feature wall in my guest bedroom with it as well!

On the Ceiling

Have you guys seen wallpaper on the ceiling? I just LOVE this idea because it’s unexpected, especially in a small space where you can have some fun! I found this lemon watercolor wallpaper on Wayfair and instantly knew that I needed it on my pantry ceiling. I’ll be doing a separate post about my pantry, so stay tuned for that soon!

Wall Decals

Peel and stick decals are another way to dress up your walls without commitment. The first wall that I did was the pink peonies in my office. After we painted our study dark grey, I knew that I wanted to do a moody floral theme in our downstairs powder room. Our bathroom is such a MOOD and I love it. These decals are all from Simple Shapes.

Final Thoughts?

So what do you all think? Yes or no to wallpaper in the home? I love it and don’t see this trend going anywhere anytime soon!! It’s a great way to dress up your walls and add some style to otherwise blank spaces. I really think that paint, wallpaper, and molding is an important part of home decor that can take your space to the next level.
