Hey Lovely! My favorite type of outfits are chic office-ready looks for business professionals. I take pride in dressing up every single day when I have meetings, networking events or client dinners. I truly believe that a pulled together outfit can give you confidence and make you feel good about yourself.
Two weeks ago I attended MAGIC in Las Vegas, which is a huge fashion conference. I was meeting with brands and needed to look professional, yet cute. Office wear can be pretty boring, so here are my tips for putting together an outfit for a professional networking event.
1. Start With A Solid Colored Pencil Skirt
Pencil skirts are universally flattering on everyone. A little black pencil skirt is a closet staple for a business professional. You can easily dress it up with a silk blouse and heels or dress it down with a cotton t-shirt and flats on casual Friday. I have found the best pencil skirts at Banana Republic that look great and won’t break the bank.
2. Wear A Patterned Blouse
Since I was in 100 degree weather, I went with a sleeveless blouse from Talbots that had a cute raspberry pattern with pretty button and eyelet details. You can pick any pattern: floral, leopard, polka dot, stripes, gingham… whatever you like!
3. Compliment Your Blouse With Accessories
I paired red accessories to help make the red raspberries on my blouse really pop. This red wallet with a detachable chain also turns into a shoulder bag and is perfect for a day-to-night look. The black and red bangle also supports the color story of my blouse. If you want to be a little edgy, add a leopard accessory. Leopard is a sassy neutral that you can add to any outfit – but don’t overdo it or you will really clash. Less is more when adding a second pattern.
4. Wear Pointed Toe Flats
I am all about high heels, but I was going to be on my feet for 12 hours, so I needed a cute pair of flats. Flats are totally okay to wear to a professional networking event! Embrace pointed toe flats – they totally work with a pencil skirt! 🙂
Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you liked my tips for putting together an outfit for a professional networking event. This exact outfit is literally what I wore on day 1 of the MAGIC conference and I felt chic AND comfortable.
